    Friendly and attentive staff plus good food. We love visiting the local establishments as we travel and this family owned business had such an interesting backstory and good review, we just had to stop and check it out for ourselves. It did not disappoint! Great food and served quickly. If we lived here, this would be a regular stopping spot for us.

    So I really wish I could give half stars because this really is a solid 3.5. It's not quite a 4 for me. If someone suggested to go here, I wouldn't swat them on the nose with a newspaper but I wouldn't rush to go here either. I had a combo sandwich with beef and pork. I guess in my mind, you can't really go wrong with those two meat choices. They are the safe choice in the bbq world. I mean you'd be hard pressed to make some beef that I won't eat and swine is almost always fine to me. The beef was pretty tasty and the pork was okay. It was just a bit dry but I came at the end of their day so I won't count that against them. I had fries and baked beans as the sides. I loved the fries but I love seasoning salt lol so they were winning for me. I wanted to love the beans. I just can't. That makes me sad. As for the staffing, they were friendly and helpful. I ordered to go so I didn't have much interaction with them. Overall it was a good experience but just that, good.

    Danny Edwards serves good solid barbecue. What stands out to me are the specialty sandwiches, specifically, "The Southern Style," which includes coleslaw poured on top of pulled pork with some sauce on top. It's a nice combination of hot and cold temperatures and a good mix of flavors. They also offer regular size and large sandwiches for your choice of meat as well. The sides however, lack the luster of their main course counterparts. Of them, I really like the coleslaw, but I kind of expected a little more out of the other dishes. They will compliment your main course, but they don't have the pizzazz of some of the sides at other places around town. Be aware, Danny's is only open for lunch. It will get busy, but you shouldn't have a problem parking or finding a seat.

    All KC BBQ is good. Amazing even. This is the first BBQ joint I haven't given 5/5 stars too. But that's not bad! We didn't realize they were only open for lunch which is really odd, and we were in until right at close. The staff here are super awesome. They're fun to talk with and very helpful when it comes to their food items and the way they do things. A+ The food. I ordered "The Big D" seeing as it had lots or things I really enjoy on it and it was on TV. Unfortunately I was pretty let down by it. The meat was tender but not much flavor and I couldn't taste any cheese on it. The burnt ends, ribs, and pulled pork on the other hand were fantastic. This may be the smokiest BBQ I've had and that's a good thing. Fries were good but I guess I don't see what's so special about putting chili powder on them. Great location on SW BLVD by the brewery and lots of other food options and stuff. I'm sure they stay hella busy at lunch with all the businesses around. Oh and one more thing. The trains are loud.

    This food is so good. Its a hidden little gem on the very outskirts of kcmo its practically in Kansas. I equally love their simple menu and struggle with it. It's just all greasy goodness. There's not really much available for a lighter meal option or GF friendly unless your good with just eating meat. That being said all makes most males in my sphere love it. That being said I would have loved recommending this joint for fathers day but they are closed on Sundays, and the rest of the week they close at 3pm. Best way to enjoy Danny Edwards BBQ, get it to go, bring it home or to the park for a comfy not so homemade meal. I had a bunch of family in town and we did the park just grab a ton of napkins maybe even wet wipes.

    I give most KC BBQ joints 5 stars because it's all so darn good. Danny Edwards is only for lunch and you stand in line, sometimes outside, go early. The pulled pork, ribs, chicken, brisket, and everything else on the menu is the best ever (again; almost all KC BBQ is the best ever). KC BBQ is so competitive that anyplace you go is good and many are great - Danny Edwards is one of the great ones.

    The pork was well seasoned, served on a warm soft bun. The sauce exceeded the flavor by adding a nice mix of sweet and spicy. The fries were also well season. They lacked on crispiness but had nice flavor. It is noteworthy that the onion rings were amazing. If I judged them they would have a perfect score. Over all this place received a 91%.

    Back again and this time I grabbed a Burnt End sandwich dubbed the "Ol' Smokey" and it was tremendous! Smokey with flavorful bark and slathered in a solid BBQ sauce. I will be eating this again...and again...and again! Side note (pun intended) the baked beans were a miss, the fries here still reign supreme.

    Got their late for lunch today just before closing. Had the turkey and Ol Smoky combo sandwich with fries and jambalaya. Everything was delicious. My wife had brisket and ham combo sandwich with onion rings and beans. Again, everything was delicious but brisket may have been a bit on the dry side. Staff was very friendly and even brought us some onion rings that were extra. Another great KC BBQ joint.

    Forgive me, Kansas City BBQ Gods, for not reviewing Danny Edwards BBQ a lot sooner. I've been chompin' on the family's succulent slow cooked meats since it was called Jake's Barbeque around 1980 and his dad was running it out of an impossible little hole in the wall downtown. Great then, great now. Proud to say this is one of the great BBQ destinations in the city for my two cents. Solid smokey, tender meats, a hearty sauce that's a bit on the sweet side, fairly traditional BBQ fries (unless you count the sweet potato version which I adore). If I was bringing someone from out of town looking to experience KC BBQ and this was my only option I'd be fine with that. Today's choice: the Carolina style pulled pork sandwich with slaw. Yea, not exactly a KC choice, but undeniably wonderful. Tender, moist, melt-in-your mouth taste. It delivered. Their beans, filled with lots of smoke and tender meat, one of the better sides in the city going with Q. Service can be a tad slow but worth the wait. Not a place I frequent often but with so many great choices in town that's not an indictment! Said it before: Kansas City needs to designate historic BBQ destinations with a special plaque to adorn the best of the best. The Edwards family is more than deserving of being a member of that club should it ever happen.

    Thanks to Toni M's review, four of us came to this popular BBQ restaurant and had a wonderful feast. Adorned with an industrial vibe, the large interior was composed a front counter, high ceilings, walls of photos, and plenty of tables with red-checkered tablecloths. We ordered at the counter, found a table, and waited for the staff to deliver the food. To me, when it comes to Danny Edward's, it is all about their pork spareribs. They serve the Long End ($12.99) and Short End ($13.99), and both were tender, well seasoned and smoked so no sauce is necessary, and the meat was easy to fork off the bones. We were told the Short End is juicier, but the Long End was meatier and still mouthfuls of smoky deliciousness. I loved them both. We also shared a plate of Burnt Ends ($12.99). The plate included chunky crispy smoked brisket edges, bread, and pickles. I'm not a big fan of Burnt Ends, but these were a tad easier to bite into than the ones at Fiorella's. It was good, but not something I would personally order. Ironically, my least favorite was the Combo Plate ($15.75). I initially thought the smoked beef, ham, ribs and the range of flavors was going to hit. On the contrary, the beef was not as succulent as the ones from Jethro's, and it was difficult to expect ham to carry a lot of wow factor. The Combo Plate, and the Burnt Ends, were the only items that were reliant on the BBQ sauce.There BBQ sauces were good too: smooth, spicy, and complex. For sides, the fresh cut fries were nicely seasoned, impressively crispy, and the best I have ever had to date. Their fries were addictive and superior to those at Oklahoma Joe's. The smoky baked beans were smooth, sweet, and delicious. The spicy jambalaya was tangy, not memorable, and my least favorite. Service was very friendly, thoughtful, attentive, personable, and our water was constantly refilled. Overall, I thought the ribs and fries could go toe to toe with anyone out there. I'd be very interested in coming back for more.

    The short: If none of my go to BBQ spots were open I would consider maybe coming back here again. The long: Because I didn't want to wait in a super long line for my BBQ of choice I decided I would try something new on this visit to KC. I had heard about Danny Edwards on a few occasions before and it was fairly close so I figured why not give it a try. When we walked in it was fairly empty and we kind of stood around for a minute before someone came to seat us. She ran off to get our drinks and we looked over the menu. When she came back she dropped the drinks and ran away. We waited and waited for awhile then flagged someone down to order. The place was filling up by this time which was a good sign to me. When the food showed up it was kind of just slopped on the plate but hey it's BBQ. I found my burnt ends to be pretty dry and when I put sauce on them it didn't do much for them. The sauce was pretty one note and almost reminded me of Arby's sauce which is pretty sad. Once we were done we had to flag down another person to get our check so we could get out of there. I wouldn't say it was bad, but I wouldn't say it was good either. It was a solid B at best. What works: Decent selection What to improve: Service is a little lacking and the BBQ sauce is pretty one note.

    Yum yum yum! Happened upon this place after reviewing Yelp for a decent lunch spot while on a work trip to KC. I visited around 1:30, so the lunch crowd was pretty much gone but the place still had a decent amount of traffic. I opted for the "low carb platter" which allows you to select 3 meat options. I chose the beef, pork, and the chicken. I chose wisely. All 3 were delightfully moist, smoky, and full of flavor. Their signature sauce was spicy, sweet, and a perfect accompaniment to the meat. The chicken looked pretty sad compared to the other two proteins, but once I peeled off the skin it revealed its tasty goodness. It probably was my favorite of the 3, but not one was disappointing. I would definitely return!

    Hands down my favorite bbq and I'm from here. Grew up on his dad's Jake Edwards place and Danny's is now my "go to" even if it means a bit of a drive. Try the sweet potato fries.

    Take this from a die hard BBQ guy, this place is legit. Awesome Pork sandwiches and sides. The service and quality of food is exceptional. This place had made it to my top 3 places to go for BBQ. If OKC Joe's has a line, come here as your backup plan. I won't let you down on this recommendation. Cheers.

    Showed up for lunch and was not able to get the burnt end sandwich I wanted. However I ordered sliced brisket from the point and it was moist, smokey and amazing. Just as delicious as I remember from several years ago.

    I love places like Danny Edwards, where the menu isn't so extensive and the operating hours are limited. It's a place that knows what it's good at and yes, that is BBQ! I ordered the Big D, featured on the episode and it did not disappoint. The meat was smoked perfectly, tender, juicy, generous. The sauce was just right. It's been funny to try these "Faux Sandwiches" in KC. They look like a sandwich, but because the meat portions are so huge, the bread crumbles very quickly. Speaking of bread, the Rye is a great complement to the meat as well as the crispy Onion Rings. On top of this, I had the spicy baked beans and for the first time, "Spicy" meant "SPICY!" in my time in KC. I LOVED every bite- definitely the second best beans I've had in KC (First is at Fiorella's). I will definitely return to try more! This is #51 on my quest to eat at all the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives in America!

    Best BBQ I have ever had!!!! You have to try it for yourself. I tried a sampling of burnt ends, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. I couldn't tell you which one was my favorite because I loved them all so much! I got the fresh cut fries as my side...the perfect complement to amazing bbq. If you are in the Kansas City area, you must stop in!!! Excellent!!

    Hands down best BBQ meal in KC. The meal I'm referring to is the Danny's Special with burnt ends and two sides of your choosing. Love their sauce, their beans, and most of their other rotating side options. I should take a star off due to their inconvenient hours hours. 11-3? I understand wanting to only be a lunch place but then open up on Sunday or at least open up for dinner a couple days/week. You make it awfully difficult to get down there to support you. Oh, and their watresses if you can call them that, are the best staff in all of KC. Seriously. So friendly and welcoming. Love them.

    ***I'm not familiar with burnt ends (a Kansas City signature dish), but I really liked the ones here; I also thought their BBQ sauce was one of the better ones I've had in a long time; it was smoky, sweet and even a little bit spicy*** Danny Edwards is a local BBQ spot located in an industrial area of Kansas City. The restaurant is order-at-the-counter and there are several tables. It is mostly an industrial looking space with concrete floors, but it is a clean spot. I went with the burnt ends plate, which is a Kansas City BBQ specialty; the plate came with chopped pieces of beef brisket that were already sauced, one side (I opted for the spicy baked beans) and a few slices of white bread. I'm not familiar with burnt ends or what constitutes a great version of it, but I liked the burnt ends here. The meat had a pretty good flavorful char on the outside. It was not as crispy as I was expecting, but it was still a good contrast to the center meat, which was tender and even a little juicy (definitely not dry). The meat had a good flavor. With a lot of food in Kansas City, you definitely get a real smoky flavor with the meat. The BBQ sauce was great too--a lot more complex than what I have had elsewhere. The BBQ sauce was smoky, but it was also sweet and spicy. You can usually get one of those sensations with a BBQ sauce, maybe two, but all three of them came through very well here. The spicy baked beans were good. I liked the light spiciness from the jalapenos though it was not really that spicy. I also liked the pieces of beef brisket they mixed in. The flavor of the baked beans was fine, but it was not as good and distinct as the burnt ends. Service was very good here. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick. Prices were maybe a little high for an order-at-the-counter spot, but you do get generous portions here. You can get sandwiches under $10 while plates will cost you between $10 and $15. Danny Edwards is a good BBQ spot. I liked the smoky flavor of the burnt ends and I think they did a really good job with the BBQ sauce. In addition to the good food, I liked the local and casual but still clean feel to the place. There are apparently a lot of good BBQ spots in Kansas City and I would think this would be a good one to try at least once to see how it competes with some of the more renowned Kansas City BBQ joints. Danny Edwards has its own free parking lot. It is easy finding an open spot when the restaurant first opens at 11:00 a.m. The restaurant does seem to get busy though. There is also free parking on the street.

    Danny Edwards has been on my KC BBQ list for at least a couple years now, and we finally got a free Saturday to check it out. The restaurant was fairly busy, but not packed and we got a table right away. I ordered a the "Ol' Smokey" sandwich (burnt ends), with some spicy beans, french fries, and one of the specials of the day - baked macaroni and cheese. Positives: -Simply perfect burnt ends...I've tried quite a few KC burnt ends, and these are probably the best of the bunch. -Good seasoned french fries - not quite OK Joe's quality, but definitely a step above a lot of BBQ places. -Great service and the food came very quickly. -Cheap! $22 for two sandwiches, 3 sides, and a drink. Negatives: -My only complaint is the operating hours - 11am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday. If you're like me and don't work downtown, your only option to visit is Saturday for lunch. Certainly doable, just wish they'd expand their hours a bit. I've heard many great things about this place, and was happy to see it live up to the hype. Personally, it won't dethrone OK Joes in KC BBQ scene - but it 's definitely a solid Top 5. Highly recommended.

    As an ex-Kansas Citian living in Colorado, I didn't realize how good I had it until it was gone. The BBQ out here is ok, but I really miss our own bbq joints. For the last 5 years, I've tried to come back to KC several times a year. Each visit, I try to hit all of my old stomping grounds. Arthur Bryant's, Gate's, LC's, etc......One place I keep missing is Danny Edwards (mainly due to the operating hours). I finally made it the last time I was in KC. Oh man...did I ever miss the Burnt Ends. I completely forgot how they tasted there and the sauce, oh my, that sauce! My first bite was like a transport back into history. All of my memories came back. The food and staff are awesome!!

    I've been to quite a few BBQ joints in the KC area, but I can honestly say Danny Edwards is my #1 choice. The food is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. Mr Edwards is a really nice guy that will always greet you with a smile. And they have all the BBQ favorites. You can't go wrong by choosing the Large Beef & Ham sandwich with fries. That's my all-time favorite. Stop by and check em out!!

    Went here for lunch because it was on triple d. Went with two KC natives who had never been here. I ordered the brisket sandwich, spicy baked beans and spicy jambalaya. I like spicy food. The spicy beans are not what I would call spicy but they were spicier than typical beans. The jambalaya was not overly spicy or great in general. It was rice with slices of sausage. The beef was good. I liked the sauce because it wasn't too sweet. My KC counterparts wished the sauce was sweeter. The atmosphere is small and local. I can see how regulars would be dedicated to this place. It is not a place I would seek out.

    Very good. Represents KC bbq very well. Used them as a caterer and they did disappoint. Everyone was satisfied. Had the brisket, ribs, burnt ends and pulled pork. The burnt ends were some of the best I've ever had. Brisket was smoked very well (Not dry). The ribs were serious!! Highly recommend!

    This place is a good solid bbq joint that will most likely keep everyone in your party happy. I tried them during a busy lunch hour and the majority of people eating where guys. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich with fries. At first bite I thought the meat was a little bland, there isn't much of a smoky flavor to the meat like at Oklahoma Joes. Their sauce was also a bit different, it seemed a little gritty and overly spiced so it wasn't the typical sweet molasses based sauce. The fries where the kind that have the skin still on and they were pretty good. I started to complain in my head but once I started to eat the sandwich it did grown on me, and overall the sandwich components where better together than individually. I would have to try some of their other items but so far this experience would make me come back just to try more items. The girls attending the tables where really nice and helpful, the parking is a bit tight, and the women's bathroom smells weird but overall I really liked this place.

    "OPEN DAILY (11-3)" it says on the "Press" page of their website. "OPEN MON - SAT (11-3)" it says on other pages of their website. I have been here three times that fit those hours only to find them closed. Their hours suck to begin with and then they don't even stick to that. Saturday was THE last time I try. Plenty of other BBQ joints in KC, not wasting my time or gas trying to come here again.

    This is my lunchtime BBQ standby. I don't know why these guys don't have more "notable visibility", to be honest; it's certainly much better than most of the smaller joints in town, and more easily accessible than those that have more attention. Why stand in line all day when you can get into this place and have some of the best pulle pork in town? Don't get me wrong, there are often times it's so busy in there you can't find a seat. But the helpful and (VERY!) friendly staff is always on the look out for a table for you, and it's a well-known part of the drill to be on your way when you're done with your meal so that other folks can have a seat. Friendliness, a well-attended and clean dining room, and honestly some damn fine BBQ are always great reasons for me to swing by at lunch and have a plate. I've tried every sandwich plate they offer (fave is the Pork), and it's nice to have that variety, to be honest. The sides are always delicious and made on the spot, as well. Never thought of Jambalaya as a BBQ side, but they make some great stuff, fo' sho'. So, let those others stand in line at the gas station; there's some my-tee-fyne stuff waiting right down there on the BLVD, and they're happy to oblige.

    Had the combo and burnt end plates. Both were excellent. The ribs were tender and the chicken was moist and perfectly seasoned. Everything had an amazing smoked aroma and flavor. Staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Pickles were a perfect complement to the smoky succulence of the meats. Highly recommend. Wish we had BBQ like this in California.

    This place is pretty good! A little different, and I like it. They have the usual beef, ham, pork, turkey sandwiches. Ribs... And so on. Plenty of sides. Everyone here is friendly and they have a good little vibe going on here. I don't come often, but it's a nice treat when I do.

    Good, but not great. I like the vibe of the place, and the food was tasty, but it wasn't "knock my socks off and slather me in barbecue sauce" good. My food was cold when I got it, and the steak tips that I ordered were inconsistently cooked. I'll give it another try the next time I'm in KC so that I can see if this was just a one-off situation.

    I only had time for one BBQ meal in KC; based on my routing and online reviews we selected Danny Edwards to represent the city. We were not disappointed at all. Smoky, crunchy, chewy, moist, morsels full of delicious beefy taste. They really didn't need the extra sauce, but it's on the table so some did get a squirt. Not only is the BBQ delicious, but the sides were pretty damn good too, and that's a sign that the kitchen is really paying attention to their craft. I wish I had the time to try a few other recommended BBQ spots in town, but since I only had time for one I'm very glad we came here.

    A bit of a let down. This place was very hyped up for me. They're almost never open, so I jumped on the chance to go during lunch (which is the only time they're open). I have heard wonderful things. I got the rib sandwich. There was very little meat in the ribs. What meat was on there was extremely fatty. The onion rings were above average. The smokey beans were incredible. I had a bite of my wife's pulled pork and it was great (I would get that if I went back). The service was also exceptional.

    I've tried most of the BBQ joins in KC, I personally think this is one of the best. Sauces are great, meats are juicy. You will have trouble finding a parking spot during lunch hours. Generous portion, excellent bang for your bucks.

    I hail from Kansas City, so I'm very particular when it comes to my barbecue. When I heard that Guy Fieri came to visit, I had to go check the place out for myself. Needless to say, I was beyond impressed with the food. The smoked brisket and turkey were on point, and the fries are fried and seasoned to order. One of the best bbq joints Kansas City has to offer.

    As of today, this is my fav in the metro! I went on a Saturday for lunch. The place was clean, the staff attentive, and the food was top notch! Burnt End Sandwich 5.0 Mexican Chili 3.5 (Had to try it, was pretty good even though I did not come for the chili) Potato Salad 4.0 Creamy Slaw 4.0 Has a similar atmosphere as the other well known place in town, but I thought a cut above. Fun little place.

    We were going to go to Oklahoma Joe's but change our minds when we saw the line outside the doors. I'm glad that we decided to find something new. Danny Edwards wasn't super busy when we got there but it did after a little while. We were able to get a table and watch a little bit of football while we ate. The waitress was super nice and friendly. We had to send her away a few times because we couldn't figure out what to eat. We settled on the ribs with potato salad, Asian coleslaw and baked corn. There was so much ribs for the both of us. Te ribs were so good. There was a lot of meat and it came off the bone so easily. The BBQ sauce was delicious too. I think it was homemade, but not sure. The side dishes we ordered were all good. The corn bake was hot and gooey. The potato salad was good. The Asian slaw was tangy. I would definitely visit again and come with a bigger appetite.

    Very solid three stars and I want to go back. I really wanted to go 4 stars, but our experience just wasn't quite there. It was hopping for lunch on Friday. Grab a menu off the counter and read it while in line. They have specials posted. There are many combo plate options, sandwiches and soups. My go to is pulled pork, here it was good, not great. It had a slight pink smoke ring, but I couldn't even taste a smoke flavor.I'm also not a huge fan of their sauce, it has a bit of chipotle flavor. I was thankful they didn't drench my sandwich in sauce. For sides, we tried the sweet potato fries and I certainly expected better. They weren't crispy at all, got cold very fast. The seasoning on them was good, but not evenly distributed and the fries that weren't seasoned where very bland and soft. We went for lunch before heading over to Boulevard Brewery for the tour. it's just down the road. My friends tried the burnt ends which they said had great flavor. They also tried the chicken tortilla soup and said it was delicious. I guess with the hype of this place, I expected more. I will go back, try again and see if there's a dish done better than their pulled pork.

    We went to KC on our search for the best BBQ and to compare to St. Louis BBQ. We traveled with a group of 6 folks ate in 9 restaurants in 2 days. We compared food, atmosphere, service at each place. Eating at so many places allows you to have only one bite of each item. The team included a pit master with 15 years experience, A CIA trained chef, former GM of multiple BBQ restaurants, current GM, A Foodie (me) and a health nut (my wife). Here's the overall ranking 1. Oklahoma Joes 2. LC's BBQ a close second 3. Jack Stack 4. Gates BBQ/ BB's lawnside BBQ 6. Danny Edwards 7. Zardas 8. BBQ Shack 9. Arthur Bryant Pretty much a disappointment but far from bad. With all the other choices I see no reason to return. We entered an empty (completely empty) restaurant. The staff was helpful and fun but the food ranged from Dry to uninspiring. Nothing was great but most was just average to good.

    For me, any conversation regarding best BBQ in KC will now include Danny Edwards Blvd BBQ. My third visit here and each one has been great. High quality food, friendly staff and delicious sides. They are only open 11-3 so if your not around the Blvd during these hours your only hope is to have them cater an event.

    In our town, barbeque is a religion. A recently-transplanted co-worker commented to me that she didn't feel she could truly be a Kansas Citian until she owned either a grill or a smoker. And I can't say I disagree. (I also said, "Get both. Charcoal. Weber.") Everyone has heard of Bryant's, Gates, Jack Stack. And let's not forget Oklahoma Joe's (my absolute favorite, btw). But I'm a bit surprised at the number of people who've not heard of Danny Edwards. I drove past it a lot when it was located downtown on Grand, before they and their pink concrete pig were ousted by the Sprint Center. But I only made time to fight for a parking spot, stand in line and enjoy a sandwich there once, shortly before they closed at that address. And I realized that day that I had been missing out! Luckily, their current spot on Southwest Blvd is a bit easier to access. There are several parking spaces in their lot and on the street, many of them filled with service trucks, which means the seats inside the place are filled with people who (a.) do actual, physical labor for a living and (b.) are HUNGRY at lunch, want good food, plenty of it and get in and out (work to do, people!), so the tables turn quickly. Everything I've tried here has been amazing! There's always a good amount of smoke flavor. The meat is tender. And the sauce, as mentioned in many other reviews, is that great combination of thick tomato, sweet, spicy...just the way we like it here in the BBQ Capital. On my most recent visit, I had a pulled pork and beef sandwich (they were out of my usual combo choice, rib tips) with a side of onion rings. Both meats were smoked to perfection. And the onion rings have yet to disappoint! I like that there's a mountain of them, when many places (BBQ joints and otherwise) tend to be so stingy with theirs. Whatever your barbeque preference---ribs, sliced meats, chicken---order with confidence. These folks do a fine job all around. And their friendly staff takes very good care of you by rushing the food to your table, getting your drink refills and providing a handful of wet wipes to clean yourself up after swimming in that sauce. So whether you're a local that has yet to experience one of the best underrated barbeque spots in town, or you're just passing through, go (Mon-Sat, 11:00am-3:00pm only) and give Danny Edwards a shot. You won't regret it!

    Went here for the first time today because Rosedale BBQ was remodeling. Only had a beef sandwich and coleslaw. The slaw tastes just like the slaw I make so that made me feel good. The brisket however was not as good as what I make so I was a little disappointed. If the price of the meal was in line with Rosedale I would have given 4 stars but my regular sandwich, coleslaw and a drink came to $12.28. I can get all that at Rosedale for under $9.00. I think Oklahoma Joe's may even be under $12.00 but it's worth every penny. The staff was friendly and the place is clean. The sauce is pretty good also. Not a bad place to eat, just kind of expensive.

    First stop into town. Burnt ends very good (Joes are better). Sides, in order of preference-- onion rings, potato salad, beans, sweet potato fries. Were surprised that fries were bland & slightly overcooked. May have missed seasoning. Group had pulled pork, baby back ribs and ham & brisket sandwich. All seemed pleased. Sauce was excellent- sublime spicy/sweet balance. Btw while waiting at counter to get bottle for the home, eyed the brownies, also took to go. Nice! Service was warm & pace was good. Have Bud & a couple Boulevard stylings on tap. Solid place, I'm a fan!

    3.5 stars A giant Styrofoam plate full of food, each kind attacking the other. Food here and there, overflowing. Sauce on this and that. Meat struggling to be seen under the layers of white bread. Good stuff. This place is cheap, simple, and tasty. The ribs are good, but not my type. You can't really pick them up. Well, you can, but they fall apart, and are covered in every other food on your plate. More sauce on these ribs than any other BBQ joint so far (although I have a long way to go). Service was kind and prompt. I like the out of the way location. I'd return, but only if others wanted to go there specifically. Otherwise, I like other BBQ a bit more. But again, it's BBQ. I'd be happy with it any day of the week.

    Tried this place today for the 1st time. I love, love, love REAL burnt ends but have only found them at Gates thus far. Everyone else seems to want to cut a brisket in squares and call it burnt ends... Sigh... Okay, so I had the ol smokey sandwich with sweet potato fries. Super yum! They were in a pinch for space and asked a stranger if I could join his table. He said yes so we got to chat a little. The burnt ends were honestly a bit dried out & tough but the flaovr wa good.

    I had been wanting to come here for ages, and an opportunity finally presented itself. I pounced. Got here right at 11 when they opened, so had no issues with wait times or seating. That being said, by the time we left around 11:35, all tables were taken, as expected. I ordered the burnt ends plate which came with a side, for which I chose cole slaw. My girlfriend had a brisket sandwich with sides of bbq beans and sweet potato fries. My burnt ends were awesome. They were kind of a mix of chopped and chunked, so you had pieces of all sizes and the texture that is so great with burnt ends came through (unlike at Bryant's where they chop up the burnt ends and completely destroy the texture). The cole slaw was probably my favorite that I have had so far on the KC BBQ scene. My girlfriend's brisket wasn't quite as good, though. It was fine, but nothing extraordinary - there is better in town. Same with the beans and fries. The sauce was awesome - I liked it a lot, but she wasn't the biggest fan. Service was very friendly. Prices seemed high for lunch (and it's only open for lunch), but I didn't really feel ripped off. The place was open, airy, and surprisingly clean. One thing I loved is that it didn't wreak of BBQ. Yeah, BBQ smells great, but I don't like smelling like pulled pork or ribs for the rest of the day. At most BBQ places, that is the price you pay...but not here. I won't be back here very much, but that's because it's far from my house, even further from work, and it's only open on afternoons, which doesn't really work for me. But, I WILL be back for sure.

    I finally made it here for lunch! It was my first time here, but my hubby has been frequently and loves it. There are maybe 15 tables total, it's not a huge place and I could see how it could get busy and crowded. We had the brisket and pulled pork and I would not hesitate to order either item again. I loved the beans, they had a nice jalapeño kick, which is a little more interesting than most. The sweet potato fries are also good. We spent $20 for 2 lunches and 2 drinks, so I would say that would qualify as an average lunch price and I'm sure we will be back.

    PEOPLE! Do not sleep on Danny Edwards BLVD. BBQ. This place is absolutely wonderful. Best burnt ends in town in my opinion, and I know that if you yelp literally any Kansas City BBQ joint, there will be at least 50 reviews saying that each specific place has the best burnt ends in town, but I can tell you as someone who has eaten at ALL of them, Danny Edwards has the REAL best burnt ends in town. The Ol' Smoky (Burnt End Sandwich) is the only thing in my book that comes close to the delectable wonder that is the Z-Man at Oklahoma Joe's, and if I were a death row inmate, I'd have an order of each as my last meal. GREAT fries too. Easily some of the best I've had. This is my new favorite spot (although it's in a 3 way tie with Bryants and OK Joe's cause no place could ever dethrone those two in my book).

    Really solid effort by this joint. And a gracious staff really helps, as well. A Ol' Smokey sandwich (burnt ends) made with REAL burnt ends with a medium smoke flavor and a touch of sauce was delicious. But the sauce, lordy lordy, was ever so tasty and spiked with allspice or clove or something. Just the right sweet, spice and tang for my taste. Really good. And it would e great with sweet potato fries, which they have! The fries were actually crispy and seasoned with a blend/rub. Wonderful. The little cup of ranchera beans were also a tasty treat. This place kicks the pig skin off of the "other" BBQ place down the boulevard. I will be back.

    Danny Edwards is quickly becoming one of my KC BBQ favorites. The burnt end sandwich (ol smoky) is great. The meat is tender, yet burnt on the edges, lean and super flavorful. The sauce has a unique flavor and the fries are plentiful and tasty. The staff is super friendly, the same faces are there every time at the register and bringing out the food. They work hard to make sure you have a great meal. Best of all- Danny Edwards is consistent. The food is great every time- which I unfortunately cannot say about some of the other bbq joints in town. The only negative about Danny Edwards- it is lunch only! But it is well worth the trip.

    I think this place is terrific. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't agree. She finds their sauce a bit too spicy. I will admit they use more cayenne than you typically find in KC barbecue, so factor that in if it's an issue for you. It's my review, though, not yours or my wife's, so I'm going five full stars. I find everything I've eaten here just perfect. The meats were perfectly smoked, the fries perfectly fried, the onions perfectly ringed, the cole perfectly slawed. Mr. Edwards came over and introduced himself, and was as friendly and solicitous as you can imagine. I just loved my visit. My only problem is how to go back. We can only visit so many barbecue joints when we're in town, and this is the only one I can think of where my wife and I disagree.

    I'm a big fan of Danny Edwards. Their meat is some of the best, if not the best, that I've had in KC. Over the course of a couple trips, I've had their beef, pork, turkey, and burnt ends and they were all delicious. Their sauce is a little spicier than your average barbeque sauce, but I'm a huge fan. It balances well between spicy and smoky. The sides have mostly just been ok, but their chili and jambalaya were both very good. I'll definitely be adding Danny Edwards to my regular rotation of barbeque.

    Yummy, yummy, yummy to my tummy, tummy, tummy. Seriously though, I was stoked not only to have a day off from work but to be able to lunch here. Their hours are 11-3 Monday - Saturday. I never remember to stop by here on Saturday. We had the Combo plate so I could get a little of everything. The plate includes ribs, chicken, beef, ham with a side. The ribs had a great crust on them and were tender but not fatty. The beef was juicy with lots of flavor. I am not a chicken fan but this drumette was amazingly spiced and juicy. The ham was like the ham we had on Easter at my Grandmothers. It was thick sliced, juicy and full of flavor. Now the beans. Good lord these are some of the best beans I have ever had. They aren't sweet and brown sugary which is what I usually like but spicy with jalapeno and baked into gooey awesomeness. The sauce is different too. It seems to have a cumin base? Whatever it is the sauce is perfect with the meats. This place was worth the wait.

    Have driven by a million times and never went in until now. I was really impressed! The place is clean and open. Not really what I expected from the box like exterior. Service was exceptional. My drink was never less then half full and everyone kept checking on us. Clean bathroom too! I got the pulled pork on a bun and fries. The pork was outstanding and bursting with crispy and juicy flavor. Fries were very generous, but slightly undercooked. I will ask for well done next time. Nice sauce, not too thick. Overall a really great experience and a nice surprise in a town where BBQ is very competitive. I will be back!

    Danny Edwards is my most frequented BBQ joint in the city. The reason is due to their consistency of execution. BBQ joints have the highest volatility in execution of any restaurant business, in my opinion. While I think a couple others A game is better than DE's A game, I know that DE's plays their A game 98% of the time. Honestly, I like Jack Stack, Arthur Bryants, Gates, and LC's A game more, but they all are terrible at consistently preforming at their top level. LC's is like playing Russian Roulette with food poisoning, AB's hasn't been hitting the A game much for years, and Gates cares more about the money than any of them, and their BBQ has suffered. Jack Stack performs most consistently of the bunch, but they have suffered from the sheer volume they produce. The combination of DE's incredibly consistent execution and the quality of BBQ makes them the BBQ place I go to most often. Their Burnt Ends are very, very good. Their spicy beans are incredible, and I debate myself between them and Jack Stack as the best beans ever. They have excellent fries. Fresh cut, well but not over seasoned fries that are fried to perfection(not many places cook fries well). I'm not a slaw fan, but just looking at it makes me believe it has to be the best 1-2 slaws out there. I really like the thick cut brisket. It's very tender, and well smoked. Some people love the sauce. I just like it. I believe they use pickle juice as one of the larger components in it. I'm not a fan of pickles or the juice, so the sauce doesn't rank high for me. It does have good depth of flavor. You can't write a review about DE's and not mention their incredible staff. These are the friendliest people in KC. You can tell that DE is a great dude, and that people love working here. They are very helpful, and always smiling. Thank you Danny Edward for an amazing BBQ joint that gives me great joy every time I go there.

    One of the stipulations of my visit to Kansas City was to eat barbecue. Preferably every day. While the latter did not happen, at least on my first day I got to have some good ol' KC BBQ here at Danny Edwards. The inside reminds me of a large barn - high ceilings, wood plank detailing and a waitress in pigtails. I'm not sure why a waitress in pigtails reminds me of a barn, but it did. Our pig-tailed waitress was a doll. She refilled our refills, asked me for my ID when I ordered a pint of the local beer, gave us as much condiments as we wanted and checked up on us in a pleasant and friendly way that was really welcoming. Now the food - I have to admit, I did like my chicken a lot. The BBQ sauce was spicy in all the right ways and it tickles me to see a giant piece of chicken propped incongruously on a piece of white bread. But then you have BBQ soaked white bread. *homer drool* The side of onion rings could not top the ones I've had at OK Joes, but they were solid. Nice and thick and crispy. I love onion rings when they are made properly. If I'm ever on this side of the Missouri River again, I'd come back. I'm a fan...of BBQ!

    Danny Edwards is a pretty solid lunch BBQ joint. I had their burnt end sandwich on one occasion and a turkey on the other. Should have stuck with the 8 oz but I think I went large both times. Really tasty food. Also, their natural cut fries are delicious, and the half order is plenty. Oh, and their service is EXCELLENT. Waitress was very friendly and happily refilled my water.

    I'd give this place 3.5 stars. The BBQ was very good, just not quite up to some other places I tried while visiting KC. I was very impressed with their sauce though, which was probably the best I had anywhere, and the meats (pork and burnt ends) were both pretty good. I also sampled the pasta salad, which was very good, and slaw, which was pretty typical. Danny himself mans the cooker every day, and it's always good to see that. This is clearly a place where the workers and service people eat, so you get a neighborhood, working-class vibe here. It's only open at lunchtime, so make sure you're aware of that. Apparently this is the new and expanded location, and that's a good thing, since it was pretty crowded on a Friday lunch hour when I was there. I hope they do well in this new spot.

    This is the BEST BBQ I've had in years. LOVED the sliced beef sandwich and sweet potato fries. I remember when Lil' Jakes was downtown on Baltimore years ago. Loved it then, and love it now. Too bad they aren't open at least one night a week, though. Would love to have some for dinner. Service was very nice - place was busy when we went last Saturday, but the wait was SO worth it. Parking lot is tiny, and that is the only complaint I have.

The Z-Man will always be awesome, but if you want the best burnt ends in KC go to Danny's. The fries are good as well. The girls that wait on the tables are the nicest. Always smiling and welcoming you. They're there to get you refills on drinks and stuff like that. It's not a sit down and order place. They're great just like the BBQ at Danny's. Only part that's sucks is they're only open 11-3 Mon-Sat.

    I'd say 3.5 if there was such a rating..... Hole in the wall place and quite simple looking. The staff is very friendly and earthy. They're on top of free soda refills like no tomorrow. Had the jumbo beef brisket special with 2 sides of spicy beans and onion rings. Beef was good, but the sauce was all spicy. I like mine with some sweet. I think they only have one sauce? The beans were excellent and they don't contain pork. Beef n turkey! The rings were above average.

    Driving through otw Montana and chose to stop in KC at one of Bourdain's layover places. Oklahoma Joe's was first stop, but 50 people outside discouraged that idea quickly. Next up Danny's or Roseland. Glad we did Danny's. The owner is a Georgia boy too and nice as he could be. Wait staff was courteous and quick. We had the Burnt Ends and a combo meat plate to sample all the goodies. Excellent choice indeed. The brisket was tender and moist. Superb. Best of all no wait. Ribs were fall off great. All good. Glad we made it our stop. Fools waiting at Oklahoma Joe's are missing out and getting frustrated when they should simply go 20 blocks or so for Great KC BBQ.

    Kansas City is home to the greatest barbecue in the world and Danny Edwards may be the best of the best. I'm hopelessly addicted to the 12 ounce Turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries and coleslaw, eating it week after week without relent. The prices were as low as one could expect for a three-quarter-pound sandwich. Fantastic service, wonderful food, convenient location and reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place.

    Fantastic BBQ. Many of the TV shows, magazine articles, etc about Kansas City BBQ are obsessed with Gates and Bryant's, but neither of those holds a candle to this place. If you want to be waited on at at your table, go to Fiorella's, but if you don't mind ordering at the counter, your food at Danny Edwards will be brought to your table, and they are very efficient at making sure your drink is refilled. It gets busy from 11:45 through the noon hour rush, so I like to be there around 11:30 or after 1pm.

    I have been trying to get to this place for a long time now but there odd hours made it hard. I got a beef sandwich with fries to go. The guy taking the orders was a very nice guy and helped me decide what to get. I liked that they cut the beef thick but I found it to be a little dry and hard to swallow. The fries were good but not great and nothing I would go back for. I found the sauce to be close to Arthur Bryants style of sauce and thought it was good. Now before anyone starts tearing me apart let me say that I will be going back to get either ribs or a pork sandwich and will update as soon as I do.

    I am a diehard Oklahoma Joes fan and I thought nothing could compare to it until I ate at Danny Edwards. This place it tied with Oklahoma Joes as my favorite BBQ in KC. I loved the beef brisket sandwich and I was completely blown away by their Smoked Corned-beef BBQ sandwich. I eat corned beef all the time and have never had anything like it. They make it from scratch that takes them one week to prepare. Their fries were not worth getting. I will definitely come back when I am in the area.

    Had to try the burnt ends sando on the strength of previous reviews and it did not disappoint. I've tried burnt ends sandwiches at some other bbq restaurants in town and lots of them tend to serve large pot-roast type cubes of meat. However, the burnt ends at DEFKCBBQ are perfect for sandwiches. They're smaller than most I have tried, almost nugget-like. They have a beautiful black char on the outside and are juicy and succulent when bitten in to. Not too tough and not too tender. I ordered the regular size and it actually came with a lot more burnt ends than could fit in the bun so I was able to fork them down after I finished the sandwich as an extra treat. I went with sweet potato fries and spicy rancher beans as sides. I can't give a fair review on the sweet potato fries because I ordered take-out and of course by the time I got home, the fries were soggy. I'm sure they would have been just fine if I had eaten them there at the restaurant. I decided to try the spicy rancher beans on a whim. When I opened them, they looked like baked beans, which I am not a fan of. However, the taste was a lot more complex than normal baked beans. They included small pieces of meat as well as jalapenos and a couple of other extras in a tasty sauce. It tasted something like a combination of baked bean and BBQ sauce with a kick. The beans were really good. While waiting for the carry-out, the place seemed very clean and well-run. The tables were pretty much full and the service was nice and friendly. Wait time for the take-out was minimal. Will definitely try it again.

    This is my favorite Kansas City BBQ. The smoked corned beef sandwich is the meal I would choose if given an option by the warden for my last meal. Everything that is wonderful about corned beef with bbq goodness. They close early so it will never be a dinner option, but they are open on Saturday. When I leave KC in the next two weeks and people ask me what I miss it will be with a tear in my eye that I say I miss Danny Edwards.

    AMAZING!!! Nothing else to say, but amazing! Best BBQ in Kansas City! I recommend the combo plate; it has everything you could want. The meat is tender, juicy, smokey, flavorful and just delicious. The spicy beans are to die for. As far as service goes, the staff is top notch, they are helpful and friendly.

    Every bit as good as advertised. Wonderful brisket and burnt ends. Delicious hand-cut fries (though a little over-seasoned) and simply the best service you will get at a barbecue restaurant in town. The prices are among the most competitive as well, particularly if you indulge in a daily special. The space is oddly contemporary but it seems to work well logistically. Keep in mind that Danny Edwards is lunch only, Monday to Saturday.

    I've had BBQ for three consecutive days with visits to LC's, Danny Edwards, Jack Stack, Oklahoma Joe's, Arthur Bryant's and Gates. For each restaurant, I ordered sliced beef, pulled pork (sliced when pulled wasn't available), and fries. All were sandwiches except Jack Stack. The runner-up to my personal KC BBQ challenge is Danny Edwards. The pork was a bit boring and could use more fat and smoke. Thankfully, the BBQ sauce ideally complemented the pork. Danny Edwards had the best sauce of all six places with a great perfect balance of sweetness, tomato flavor, and spice. The seasoned fries were also the best of the six restaurants. The beef was near perfect with just a fraction more smoke and a fraction less fat needed. The bun also supported the meat. On a lark, I tried the jambalaya side. The rice was overcooked, but it had fun chunks of smoked meats. This was by far the friendliest BBQ place. Unlike the other BBQ dives where your order is unpleasantly shouted back-and-forth, the staff seems happy that you're there. It's so much more relaxing than the hasty attitude of other places. When my girlfriend bought some bottled sauce (which she is required to share with me!) and rub, they didn't treat us like loser tourists.

    I hate to say but my partner and I went here for lunch today and we both had the Combo sandwich, we had pork and beef. The meat was so dry, even after covering it in the bbq sauce. We have been on a diet and have saved ourselves for this lunch. We were going off of our memories of the last time we ate lunch here. The food was moist and the service was great. I feel bad for all those people I refered here. The service was ok, She did get us a refill on tea, but the gentlemen behind the counter taking our order was not friendly at all.

    This is my favorite place to get BBQ beef and burnt ends. It's never dry, always juicy and tender. The sauce is a bit spicy for my weak taste buds, so if they had a sweeter sauce (maybe they do and I just don't know it), I'd be in heaven. The only thing I'd love to see changed is the cheesy corn. It's not the same as other bbq restaurants in the area. I really dislike the texture of it. The taste was fine. It's the soft, almost mushy corn bready texture that bothers me. Don't let that deter your visit. I have food-texture issues, so it could just be me. The beef is well worth going back for over and over.

    I was finally able to venture in here between their crazy hours of operation. I must admit that the meat was great. Very tender burnt ends. I was pleased. The jambalaya was not to my liking. And from looking at the fries, I doubt those would be either. If I come back I will just be a meat gal.

    So.... this was our last stop on a day trip of BBQ sampling in KC a few weeks ago. I actually saw this place from the highway. The biggest and best thing I can say is that the staff is super friendly here. Helpful, eager to please everyone...wow! They even gave us a sizeable sample of the burnt ends to try. We ordered some burnt ends after enjoying our sample, which we enjoyed the next day back in Chicago. Tasty and pleasant but not as good at Oklahoma Joes (which were exceptional). I am eager to try the brisket next time! I will be back!!!!

    Went for lunch while in town on a business trip. The food and the service were very good! Got there around 12:15, order an had our food within 5 minutes, which is really good considering the place was packed! Had the burnt ends sandwich and it was very good. It was more chopped brisket than true burnt ends, but was still a very good sandwich. I would definitely go again!

    anyone who thinks this isn't the best BBQ in KC hasn't tried it and I'm serious. You can talk all the Gates & Bryants you want, but Danny Edwards is hands down the BEST and it's not even close. What the mainstays of KC BBQ cuisine fail to realize is that they no longer have a monopoly on the BBQ business in KC, so their prices, which tend to be just a tad too much for lunch, could probably stand to be lowered quite a bit. At least for lunch. At Danny's you can get a large sandwhich and side for 7-8 bucks. Now that's a decent price for lunch. their thickly sliced Beef Brisket is never dry and always just the perfect taste. The 1/4 chicken plate is the cheapest in town and really is quite delicious. I like their sauce just fine, but you don't eat BBQ for the sauce, you go for the meat and nobody and I mean nobody does it better than Danny Edwards. Their fresh cut fries are the bomb as well.

    Today's visit was my first to the new location, and while the ambiance of the rickety old shack downtown is irreplaceable, the food seems to be just as good. The burnt ends are tender and juicy, and don't need any of the tasty but overly sweet sauce. Their fries are second only to OK Joe's to my mind, crispy without being greasy. The pulled pork brings a tear to my eye, and the brisket makes me want to slap Danny Edwards for not being my dad. If you're in KCMO proper and need a BBQ fix, you can't really go wrong with this place. At least, I haven't yet.

    No one has mentioned how amazing their pulled pork is. The sandwich with that is the reason I eat here. I was never a huge fan of DE until they moved to this location but once they did and added fren h fries, now not to mention the sweet potato ones it's better than evr. I am a Detroit mi transplant so it took me awhile to come around to what amazing BBQ is and DE's sauce is one of my favorites.

    Wonderful Ole Smokey(burnt ends) and sweet potato fries. The sauce is sweet and spicy. Danny Edwards is a must try for BBQ fans. The only downside are their sparse hours. They are only open 11am-3pm Mon.-Sat.

    Never disappoints. Danny Edwards has my favorite bbq sauce - great flavor with more spice/hot than most standard sauces. Burnt ends are always great, in fact, don't think i've ever had anything else here. Fries are excellent, except when you get a plate of the small burnt crispy pieces. Don't try to push tables together when its busy for lunch or Danny might come and yell at you.

    Blvd. BBQ serves up thick knife carved slices of brisket, tender and tasteful. It has a sweet flavorful bark accompanied with a very distinct smoke ring. Simply the best brisket in the country. Their sauce is sweet yet heat arrives moments after consumption. Like a few other BBQ joints in Kansas City, they are only open for lunch and the seating is limited, so get there early! History: P&L took the original location known as "lil' Jakes" by utilizing eminent domain. It was originally opened in 1938.     Went back for a lunch with Os and split the combo platter ... meat (which included ribs, ham, chicken and beef) was still very good, tender and smoked perfectly, but what I really wanted to mention was the Smoky Baked Beans. Not what you may think of when you think baked beans, they're not sweet with a heavy brown sugar sauce but are, instead, more like a Texas bean in a smoky sauce with bits of smoked ham and jalapeno ... oh hell yes. Could easily see going back for a pint of these babies!

    Must agree w/ Alan's description of everything. See his review for details. That's Alan L., for those few who don't know. I had the rib sandwich and the ribs were almost as good as Bo's, just a little more fatty, but meaty and juicy. They were served on traditional balloon bread, which I didn't eat. I had a couple of bites of Alan's beans, which were great. I had coleslaw, which was good, but probably not as good as Lois's. The fun part was that the family who had turned us on to this place unexpectedly came in right after we did and we ended up moving over to their table to join them for lunch. Lois and I had looked for them at the art fair, but they'd gotten a slow start and so we ran into them here instead.

    We loved it here. It was a warm day & we had the dog with us. They waited on us outside and brought Justice a bowl of water. The food was great. I love their sauce. The portions were huge and, even with Justice's help, I could not finish it all. We will definitely be going back here.

    If you are in KC, Danny Edwards is worth geting some BBQ at. The meat was smokey and moist, but the portion was a little small. The location fills up quickly for lunch so get there early. I will surely eat here again.

    This was my last stop in Kansas City. I was so anxious to arrive that I got there about fifteen minutes before the 11 AM opening. When I tried the front doors, it was open. "It's all right to come in, we're ready!" cried out guess who but Mr. Edward's himself. That's awesome! This is a fun and warm atmosphere and it smells like any good BBQ place: a smoky and meaty heaven! As much as I wanted to get the 17 bones of the full slab, I went with the short end; I wanted to walk out in tact. Fresh out of the kitchen, on to my table, slathered in BBQ sauce; these ribs were heavenly. Smoky, tender, fall off the phone, messy, sticky, juicy; some of the best ribs I've ever had not only in KC, but other places too: Memphis, Alabama, Carolinas, and Texas. I went with the baked beans and these turned out to be some of the best baked beans I've ever had. I think a big part of it is that I've never had smoked baked beans. Who knew the smoke could make it more awesome? As I ate, others funneled in. It was a guy's birthday. He knew where he wanted his family to take him. So here he was. Others came in and appeared to be regulars as the staff seemed to know them all by name. Which leads to my next point. I've been to a lot of BBQ places and I eat out all the time in general; this is one of the most genuine, nicest, and friendly staff I've ever encountered. The waitress who served me and even the waitresses who didn't serve me loved to know their customers and make sure they're treated well. The icing on the cake was when Mr. Edwards himself came out, knowing that I was a first-timer. He took the time to thank me for coming in to try his BBQ. The pleasure was all mine. Delicious food and a level of service you rarely get nowadays? As I walked out, Mr. Edwards thanked me again and wished me a good day. I told him I'd be back. Real soon. I can't wait.

    This place came highly recommended by some out of town extended family. It is the reincarnation of Jake's BBQ which was an 18 seat hole in the wall downtown by the Sprint Center. This place is open M - Sat only from 11 -3 and has room for about 50. Great burnt ends and thick cut brisket, very good ribs and pulled pork. They will make combination sandwiches of 2 different meats, which makes for a large 12oz sandwich. Very crispy, good french fries, tasty beans. Friendly service. Will definitely put this on our KC list for BBQ.

    Wandered in here when it was in it's downtown location a couple of years back while on a trip and still talk about this place. There was a lot of construction going on in the area at the time but this place stood out with the painted brick wall outside and inviting aroma. The place was TINY but so inviting. I had the pleasure of meeting a national BBQ judge that was in town for business and he told me that I was in the right place and proceeded to tell me all the differences in BBQ across the country and how serious judging them is and how competitive people can be. My sandwich and beans were heaven and the staff were real friendly. Hopefully I'll be in this part of the country again someday because I would definitely find this BBQ place right off the plane!

    delish! the staff here is amazing! we had wet naps before all the BBQ sauce was licked from our lips. very generous portions on the half-slab long ends. 6 ribs + 2 tips. I had the burnt ends which were full of twice smoked juiciness.
